HaloScan comments suck

There. I've said it. I hate them. They never read on either of the computers here. Sometimes they read on the computer in work, but rarely. I hate them with passion, especially since I'd love to read the comments on this post by Twenty. Please stop using them.

Sigh

At last! A fellow sufferer.

I had a brief exchange with Twenty Major vis e-mail last night about this very subject.

He didn't seem to be aware of any problem, so I thought it was just me.

Funny thing is, I can read Haloscan comments on other blogs, although I sometimes have to click a few times.

Why do people use Haloscan? Isn't the ordinary Blogger comment facility good enough?

Fiona - Comments

And I suspect it's something to do with Javascript or some pop-up blocker in your browser.

You know what really sucks though?

Blogger's commenting. With it's slowass loading and the annoying-as-hell "word verification" crap you have to fill out every time.

ok so word verification is annoying but i've never heard of anyone being unable to access the blogger comments. I just dont understand the use of Haloscan comments - surely it just removes from your blog the potential for engagement with more readers? I dont often read blogs that I can't comment on except in the rss feeds because it's too frustrating to be unable to engage as a result of the kinds of comments in operation on that blog.

twenty - the thing is i can read them on some blogs but not others, namely yours, richard's and disillusioned lefty
